We engage in, support and develop initiatives that promote sustainability across the food chain through strong collaborations and partnerships.

We are committed to contributing towards a future that meets the need for an ethical, sustainable and nutritious source of animal protein in fish and shrimp.

Global Salmon Initiative – Associate Member

The Global Salmon Initiative (GSI) is a leadership initiative established by leading farmed salmon CEOs from around the world who share a vision of providing a healthy and sustainable source of protein to feed a growing population, while minimizing their environmental footprint, and continuing to improve their social and economic contribution.

SSP are a group of companies sharing one main mission: make aquaculture a successful practice for the world. In order to reach our goal we’ve made a clear and ambitious plan aiming to take the whole sector to its next level.

Global GAP certified – INVE Thailand manufacturing facility

GLOBALG.A.P. is a brand of smart farm assurance solutions developed by FoodPLUS GmbH in Cologne, Germany, with cooperation from producers, retailers, and other stakeholders from across the food industry. These solutions include a range of standards for safe, socially and environmentally responsible farming practices.

OIE – Benchmark Genetics Iceland approved as an ISA disease free compartment

OIE is the global authority on animal health. Founded in 1924 as the Office International des Epizooties (OIE), in May 2003 we adopted the common name World Organisation for Animal Health. An intergovernmental organisation, we focus on transparently disseminating information on animal diseases, improving animal health globally and thus build a safer, healthier and more sustainable world.

MSCI ESG Rating – AA

In 2023, Benchmark received a rating of AA (on a scale of AAA-CCC) in the MSCI ESG Ratings assessment. MSCI ESG Ratings aim to measure a company’s management of financially relevant ESG risks and opportunities. We use a rules-based methodology to identify industry leaders and laggards according to their exposure to ESG risks and how well they manage those risks relative to peers.

CDP Rating – C

Our C rating  2023 indicates a high awareness-level engagement with CDP, comprehensiveness evaluation of how environmental issues intersect with our business and how its operations affect people and ecosystems. A CDP score provides a snapshot of a company’s disclosure and environmental performance. CDP scoring methodology assesses the level of detail and comprehensiveness in a response, as well as the company’s awareness of environmental issues, its management methods and progress towards environmental stewardship.

ISO 14001

ISO 14001 sets out the criteria for an environmental management system and can be certified to. It maps out a framework that a company or organization can follow to set up an effective environmental management system.
