Sarah – Legal and Company Secretary Assistant

 Sarah

How long have you been with Benchmark and what made you join?
In January I will have been here for 5 years, it has flown by.  I was instantly struck by the passion and love people had for the company, still something I see every day.
Can you describe your role?
This could take a while…! No day is ever the same and my work covers many areas… my main role is within legal, where I support all company secretarial work such as Board meetings or London Stock Exchange requirements. I do a lot of work within compliance working on policies and training. I work on additional projects through Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) space, recently on the Supplier database.
Where are you based?
I am based just outside of London working full time from home.
What’s your favourite part of the role?
Working with so many different people across the group, I am so grateful to have the opportunity to work in various projects and teams.
What’s your biggest challenge?
I do think my favourite part of the role is also my downfall, where I want to be involved and help everyone. It’s not always the best way to be, but I prioritise where I can, and hopefully still deliver.
Tell us about the people you work with?
Benchmark is full of incredible people – my legal team are the most supportive and motivating team, we are always trying to be the best a team can be. I have been so lucky to visit a few of our sites with the Genetics board, and everyone is so welcoming, but also so innovative and passionate. I really love getting out to see people in real life – since working from home my co-worker became my cat, she is only passionate about the fish pictures on @Workplace.
What makes you happy?
In life, my motivation is others – my family and friends mean everything to me. I find if I set myself small challenges this makes me more content than setting hugely overwhelming life goals… less disappointment and more appreciation for every second of sunshine and blue skies.
